Fashion and technology go together and this is not something reserved for a few specialists.
From the apps that we can all carry in our phones to everything that happens around the catwalks (live streams, high technology during the shows, etc.) the internet has changed the way we relate with the world of fashion.
The technology in the garments even goes as far as pieces with solar panels to charge your gadgets when you carry them in your pocket.
However, fashion is still – and will be – approached from an artistic perspective. The concept of fashion like art that you wear has been diffused a lot, but rarely been used with precision, specially in fashion in the streets, in which frequently quality is sacrificed over quantity.
What does “art that you wear” really mean? Does it have anything to do with aesthetics or with technique? To us, is about both and the point where they meet. That’s why our fall-winter collection is full of pieces that fulfill precisely this concept and show that, indeed, fashion can be art, affordable art too, when it’s done with our legendary wools.
The complexity of these pieces is possible only thanks to the exclusive Benetton technology, the inimitable technique of punching is a good example of it: individual strands of a colored wool thread produced by a special machine are introduced below the wool surface of a garment, the same way that in a tattoo ink is injected below the skin.
It’s like if Jason Pollock experimented with your sweaters, and no two punched pieces are exactly the same. A jersey is not only a jersey, nor a loose dress is a simple knitted dress, they’re art in every sense of the word. Except maybe with regard to the price.
