It’s time to drink your matcha tea!
A few weeks ago, I wrote about the Asian trend, a Japan-mania in the locker rooms and on the walls of museums.
Today I wish to take an interest in the art of the Japanese lifestyle between sophistication and simplicity. We have all already jumped into Japanese cuisine with a passion: sushi, soba noodles, bento and co!
Now we would like to reproduce on a daily basis this essential and minimalist way of being. Shopu is dedicated to the spirit that the Japanese call “Mingei”, which means “natural, sincere, reliable, simple.” More than a store, it is a space promoting everyday usual and beautiful objects with great craftsmanship, made by designers from the most remote corners of Japan: artists and craft houses known for their ancestors and unique techniques.
Indigo blue plates with traditional motifs, refined porcelain bowls, cast iron pots, wooden cutlery, everything you need to receive guests and cook, but also charming vintage Kokeishi dolls… It is so far from plastic and industrial items and so much better! With the pretty uncertain times we live in, we see a renewed interest in products that will last, timeless and durable, with a story behind taking them and a feeling they have been made with care in the purest tradition.
