SketchChair is a project by New Zealand designer Greg Saul: an open source software that could radically change the way we approach interior design by allowing anyone to easily design, produce and share online the project of their own ideal chair.
With SketchChair we can design a chair using a 2D drawing interface that also allows us to test its stability and gives us the possibility to virtually sit on it with a customizable model of ourselves.
Then the software renders and generates 3D cutting profiles for the chair and by cutting and assembling all the parts we’ll obtain our personally designed furniture.
Greg is still developing SketchChair and has started a campaign on the Internet to find sponsors and developers who are willing to help him complete and perfect his project and I really hope he finds all the help and the support he needs.
