The photographer known as Perou visited Manila last weekend. He held an exhibition of some of his works at the Ayala Museum.
The show was called Perouvian Wasteland and it featured portraits of famous musicians, fashion designers, and models. Do you recognize some of them?
His pictures instantly grab one’s attention. It was unfortunate that I wasn’t able to attend the talk that he gave last Saturday morning, where he discussed his creative process and how he began photographing people.
Whether surreal, macabre, or classic, his portraits bring out the personalities of his subjects. He utilizes costumes, sets, and locations to draw out their inner fire.
