Sand art is the practice of modeling sand into an artistic form, such as a sand brushing, sand sculpture, sand painting, or sand bottles. A sand castle is a type of sand sculpture resembling a miniature building, often a castle.
The golden beach in Taiwan extends from Yenliao, Gungliao Township to Fulong for about 3 km. The sand here is white and good for sand castles. Sand grains will not stick together unless the sand is reasonably fine. While dry sand is loose, wet sand is adherent if the proper amounts of sand and water are used in the mixture.
The sand on the golden beach has good plasticity and can be pasted together easily when mixed with water. That’s why there are more and more International Sand Castle Festivals held here.
At the Fulong International Sand Castle Festival, many experts from different countries are invited to the competition to show off their skills and creativity.
This year, we can see sand art from the USA, Canada, Japan, Holland, Singapore, Latvia, China and Taiwan. There are 44 works of sand art there and they use more than 5,000 tons of sand, breaking the records of recent years. If you want to join this festival, don’t forget to bring your Benetton beachwear! 😀
