Earlier this year we told you about what it’s like to stare at the eyes of a whale.

And we were so excited about that we didn’t say anything about one of the cities where you can stay if you are looking for an experience of this kind: La Paz, in Baja California Sur.

Although whale season is February to March, a trip to La Paz is worth it at any time of the year. You can get there by plane… or by ferry from Mazatlán, which is an experience in itself.

La Paz is one of those places in the northeast of México in which the desert meets the sea, it is a city near the islands declared biosphere reserves where, besides seasonal rockstars – the whales – you can gaze all year long at sea lions among other species, both animal and plants.

As tourism is the main activity of the place, you can find accomodation at all levels. If you go for small hostels probably besides the good memories of your vacations you’ll also take new friendships with you.
