Paris is the capital of the most essential international fairs in home design (Maison & Objets I’m writing about every season) and fashion (Who’s Next, Première Classe …).
Lately there was a rendez-vous of the utmost importance: the International Fabrics for clothing fair called Première Vision. For professionals in fashion and textiles, it is a crucial time in the preparation of future collections. It is an opportunity to meet suppliers, discover their latest design trends, get inspired and feel the fashion forward guidelines and what will be tomorrow’s new fabrics and textures.
Textile manufacturers and suppliers come from all over the world to show their new collections. Visitors and customers can choose which textiles they will use to manufacture a pair of trousers or a dress, which iconic print will identify the season’s spirit. You can find every kind of fabric there: lace, embroidery, silk, cotton, linen, viscose, cashmere… sportswear textiles, innovative or ecological. Anything you will see in the shops and on the racks in a year from now. Because we must not forget that the fabric is as important as the garment itself!
Première Vision is also the meeting place for designers who visit the forum areas, where fabrics are selected and trends are set and explained. You can also attend screenings and lectures on topics regarding textile matters. One of my favorite spots is the general forum with the exclusive display of a color range representing the new season. For Spring Summer 2014, we will fall for light bright colors, revived pastels, bleached neutrals, chocolate-cinnamon terracotta or khaki dark tones. A range of natural and fruity colors to banish the grey of winter. Looking forward to 2014!
