Young fashion designers in Taiwan

Compared to Western countries such as America, U.K., France or Japan, the fashion environment in Taiwan is still not mature enough. Consequently, many students who graduate from design school or are interested in the fashion industry will choose to study abroad and even try hard to stay there after graduation.

However, there are going to be more and more young people who embrace dreams of building fashion labels. These brave dreamers may neither have a formal design background nor a lot of money to support themselves, but they are still putting effort into making their dreams come true.

Here are four Taiwanese fashion labels which are just newly launched, please enjoy it!

Hope Chen
This series of work is HOPE CHEN’s third season, with oversized T-shirts and dresses with funny slogan applications, HOPE CHEN is trying to create a quirky ‘HIP HOP’ world.

Sophie Aimer
Just graduating from fashion design school this year, Sophie launched immediately. In this first debut collection, Sophie uses sophisticated colors such as black, nude and brown and feminine fabrics like organza and chiffon, with leather decorative details, for a successful mix and match style.

Library Brass
Created last year, the accessory label ‘Library Brass’ has already been featured by many high fashion magazines such as VOGUE Taiwan and Harper’s Bazaar. In the latest collection entitled ’smith 1- flapping, over hanging features combine with conflicting materials like brass and silk, to make more distorted and one-of–a-kind accessories.

†Naked†
The first work that †Naked† launched is all about tights. With black humor style illustration printings, it easily reminds us of ‘les queues de sardines’, but the good news is, the price of †Naked† is much cheaper than the French tights label! ‘The boom of †Naked† seems not to be far away.
