Eternal Rebeginnings

by United Blogs of Benetton on: mars 18th, 2010

Fashion, style, change like a cycle, they cannot help but be inspired by past foundations to create new trends. We are faced with eternal rebeginnings that endure over the years. For some, the new and the original are separate and independent, an open relationship, while for others it is a marriage.

Audrey Hepburn and Pharrell Williams have wayfarer style sunglasses in common.

The 2000s were marked by the inspiration of the 60-80’s especially with the return of flashy colors, leggings, and wayfarers… The beginning of 2010 saw the rebirth of 90’s pieces, so we are seeing a return of the perfecto, denim jackets and the grunge and punk espirit of those years. One quickly notices this motorcycle touch given that the 90’s themselves were inspired by the 50’s as evidenced by the perfecto worn by Marlon Brando. We thus witness a continual return to the key pieces of the previous decades.

Lady Gaga sporting a perfecto, but Marlon Brando made it legendary well before her.

Samantha wore jackets already customized with metal like Verbal today.

The new generation is inspired by the past while bringing in its own touch. A fresh touch that produces a new product, creating a different combination of clothes. The designs are adapted, modernized to reflect the new looks. Also, every piece, every accessory, every article of clothing finds a new life, a new story and above all a new way of being showcased in the eyes of a new generation.

Montaigne Street would have its place in Grease at least for the perfecto/shirt look.

 Fashion State Of Mind

by United Blogs of Benetton on: mars 10th, 2010

As Style and Fashion lovers, we want to offer you a kind of reference guide that may help you to define your best way of dressing and to also show that getting dressed is not only a question of clothes, but a real process.

1Charisma plays a big part in the perception of style. We are not talking about being pretentious, but rather developing your own identity, simply being yourself and following your heart. Presence, attitude, seduction are features of one’s nature that can be modified over a lifetime by those willing to improve them.

2The fear of testing new experiences and others’ opinions can stop us from daring something, and give us the feeling of being locked up in a cage where our personality cannot blossom. So we have to take risks in Fashion like in real life in order to keep searching for that exclusive part of ourselves that can be the starting point of discovering trends in the future.

3We always have to do our best in our field, whatever it is. And increase our results like in a sports competition. Improvement is a very important part of this Fashion State of Mind. Always go ahead, always push the limits.

4Creativity is a very important point too that requires intuition and experience. Creativity helps us to be ahead of the others and may even raise some people to the level of Fashion Icon. Imagination, daring, trying new things are the basis of each style, of all things that make our world move forward.

5The best way to improve our creativity is to cultivate our mind. The first step toward enriching our knowledge is to work on an open minded spirit. Not to be stuck only to the fashion world but to enhance our lines of interest by deeply researching different sources like blogs, websites, stores, art galleries, movies, books and so on. All of this can make us lift ourselves up.

Things we can’t live without if we want to have style

by United Blogs of Benetton on: mars 6th, 2010

I have always said to myself that it is not necessary to have a wardrobe full of incredible pieces in order to have style.

For me, to have style is above all about knowing how to cleverly mix pieces. A simple striped sailor shirt associated with front pleated trousers and a pair of derby shoes can give you an amazing look.

Here is my list of indispensable basics to shape and build your wardrobe in a sure way:
A striped sailor shirt

A basic pair of jeans, not too skinny, nor too large

A beautiful black jacket, well cut above all

White and grey T-shirts, in soft and delicate jersey

The little black dress of course!

Black ballerinas

A pair of sober pumps

A trench coat

– And for the luckiest ones, a classic Chanel bag
As it would be a bit boring to wear only these pieces by themselves, the solution is to accessorize!

Hats, scarves, glasses, or jewelry… fashion thus becomes the most amusing jigsaw puzzle to assemble.

 Ace of Diamonds

by United Blogs of Benetton on: février 15th, 2010

A small selection of candidates left their mark on us this week. We plucked out 4 of them thanks to certain qualities such as charisma, originality and inventiveness. Here is the selection made in Montaigne Street.

We all fell under the charms of this young girl’s smile.

The surf style look with tee shirt and bikini bottoms is really offbeat given the background and the glamorous stilettos which lend an even more off-the-wall aspect to her pose.

The colors are well coordinated, fun and beauty abound…..Nice work Madame!

This young angel is everything that we can say about « special ».

The use of color is well worked as well as the choice of pieces, as in the black and white leggings or the half suspender (black&white, and black-white-red). The tie is innovative and the mildly futuristic hair renders the character even more atypical.

Two dominant colors, a particular style, all mixed together with real charisma.
Stay fly angelito, stay FLY !!

Gibran’s profile made an impression on us as one sees immediately from his first photo that he is full of creativity, he is not afraid to dare and to show his difference. This kind of black dress that he is wearing with the super high shoulder pads and the striking glasses that embrace his face, one would say a younger Karl Lagerfeld.

His passion spreads over several domains like fashion, art, architecture, music, design, and his photography and videos are testimony to that, particularly the shot where he has a sort of Japanese Kan-ji painted on his forehead, one could take it for a photograph of a renowned photographer. He combines all of these universes in one sole character and he merits a bit more of our attention and our complicity in permitting him to express all that he can do.

She has a name that one would say comes straight out of Celtic mythology. And like her name, she has an uncommon beauty, we particularly love the contrast between her bright red hair as she describes it herself and her very clear porcelain complexion, one would say a princess from the Middle Ages. She glows in the light as one can see in her photos, and even in shadowed places she captures all of the light around her and reflects it back.
Pure Natural Beauty.

 Cherry Blossom Girl goes North

by United Blogs of Benetton on: février 15th, 2010

Amongst the thousands of participants in the competition It’s My Time, 3 faces made a particular impression on me.

With her resemblance to Kirsten Dunst in The Virgin Suicides, Emma, pretty Swede, with fine features and a mischievous smile, just capsized my heart.

Fireman, chef, or film director, she seems dynamic and to like all sorts of activities, a personality trait which I definitely find pleasing.

Sweden is well known for regrouping a large number of very pretty girls. And Waak is definitely one of them. An angelic look in her eyes, a sylph-like body as if just emerging from childhood, the aura of purity that she transmits, like in a David Hamilton photograph, definitely convinced me.

Yet again another beauty from the North, but this time from Holland: Patricia. Her almond shaped eyes and her diaphanous skin give her the air of an absolutely charming ice princess.

Good luck to these three participants who all have their chances of winning !
