Hooggehakte Loafers

by yvettekoedam on: augustus 5th, 2011

by Be-Blogger Nederland on: juli 25th, 2011

Reality and fiction in one photo

by United Blogs of Benetton on: juni 25th, 2010

I was looking around on the internet and jumped into this great graphic designer. I’m totally impressed, I had to share it with you guys right away.

What I love the most about these photos, is that Nikki Farquharson mixed real people with drawings and put it together in just one picture. And I’m a huge fan of bright colours.

You can find more of her work on her website.

What do you think of her work?

 Acting crazy in the woods

by United Blogs of Benetton on: juni 23rd, 2010

So here’s what I did. I put on a crazy dress and walked through the woods of Muiderberg. It is a place near Amsterdam and near our beach!

The people were all looking at me like I was some crazy person. But hey, everything for a good picture right?

What do you think of the crazy dress? Would you ever wear it or is it too much?

 Are you bikini proof?

by United Blogs of Benetton on: juni 8th, 2010

Top 5 summer bikini covers & shootsI’m a total magazine freak and now that the days are getting warmer and my vacation is near, I love to get inspired by shoots and covers from all kinds of magazines.

Watch my top 5!

1. Kate Moss for Vogue

2. Doutzen Kroes for the Russian Vogue

3. Laura Blokhina in Please Fashion Paper

4. Crystal Renn, Alessandra Ambrosio and Brooklyn Decker for Glamour

5. V Magazine

Are you inspired already? When I look at these photos I love to get beach proof. So look at these 3 steps to get totally beach proof!

1. Forget McDonald’s. Eat healthy! No more junk food, but nice summer food. For example sushi, salads or fruit.

2. You have to find the right swim outfit. One that fits your body perfectly. Are you a little plussize? Find a lovely bading suit, because they’re totally hot again! Maybe you’re a little thin? Get a strapless bikini.

3. Exercise! I’ve found the perfect easy work out. I just go to my room and put on a up tempo song. For example, Cheryl Cole – Fight for This Love or Black Eyed Peas – Boom Boom Pow.

 Would you ever wear… LED?

by United Blogs of Benetton on: mei 18th, 2010

Maybe it seems a little freaky now, but you’ll never know what the future brings right? I’m talking about wearing ‘LED stuff’. For example this dress all coverd with LED lights or these dancers from the singer M.I.A.

I think it is a very cool special effect to stand out in a sort of way. For the dancers, I think it’s a cool thing to wear. It’s possible to take a closer look at this amazing LED dress. It’s called ‘Galaxy Dress’ and stands in the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago.

Like I said before, you never know what the future will bring.
Maybe in a few years from now, it’s normal to wear a t-shirt with LED characters on it!
So… would you ever wear this trend?

How a photo shoot makes you dance!

by United Blogs of Benetton on: april 22nd, 2010

It was the big day. The winners were being photographed by the famous Josh Olins. I was so happy to be here in NYC, and it was my first time. Actually I never wanted to come back.

It was great to see how happy the contestants really were. Did you know that a photoshoot really makes you dance? It showed that Melanie from Switzerland had great moves and David from Korea appeared to be the king of the dance floor.
It’s my time to be in New York!

Beneath you’ll find a little photo report. The pictures talk for themselves!

What about plus size models in magazines?

by United Blogs of Benetton on: maart 30th, 2010

Today’s issue: it seems that women rather not see plus size models in magazines. It could discourage them to buy the product. I went to Amsterdam to ask a few girls about their opinion. I caught four girls in the centre of the city and took their photo too. Here’s what they’ve had to say.

Question: Do you rather not look at plus size models in magazines?

Isabel, 24 years old

“I agree. When I see plus size models in magazines it kind of discourages me to buy the clothes. Very sad, because actually I think it is a good thing that plus size women are shown in magazines. I do think that some models are way too skinny. To me the body of topmodel Doutzen Kroes is perfect!”.

Ester, 24 years old

“I do not agree. It depends on what kind of magazine the models are used for. It wouldn’t bother me, but I do get that there are people that rather don’t see a bigger size in magazines. It also depends on the kind of body you have. If everything is in proportion, plus size can be very beautiful. But only a big belly and skinny legs are not so pretty”.

Glynnis, 20 years old

“I do not agree. It would not discourage me to see plus size models. I think it gives people that aren’t very skinny a sense of confidence. But I actually prefer skinny models, because I’m very skinny too!”.

Anne, 22 years old

“I do not agree. I love a little extra pounds on a woman’s body and don’t like skinny model figures. If the size isn’t too big, I love it!”.

What do you think?
Anais, from Venezuela, says in her profile: “If life gave you curves learn how to drive faster”. Good starting point Anais. Thanks ;-)

 Vintage in Amsterdam

by United Blogs of Benetton on: maart 23rd, 2010

A few weeks a go I walked through Amsterdam and bumbed into this nice girl, Eline. She caught my eye because of her good taste of fashion. I asked her if I could take a photo and she was flattered. ‘But I don’t have the right shoes on, I didn’t feel like putting much attention to it’, she laughed. I told her she didn’t have to worry, everyone has that ‘problem’ every once in a while. That you just want to wear shoes that fit well but don’t look very good or shoes that are just worn to many times.

eline face

Eline is a seventeen year old student from Amsterdam. She’s living in Amsterdam to study. The jacket, which I love the most, is vintage she said. What do you think of Eline’s style? And don’t mind her shoes!

 Fashion icon?

by United Blogs of Benetton on: maart 10th, 2010

There is something ‘heavy’ going on. Homeless people are recognized by photographers and fashion insiders.

For example this Chinese man.
Chinese fashionistas on the internet love him and think he is a real fashion icon and handsome too.
They take pictures of him all the time. His outfits look a little bit like the collection of Vivienne Westwood.
He’s also famous for the fact that he weares women clothes – dresses – all the time.

The famous street photographer The Sartorialist captured a homeless man as well. His shoes combine nicely with his clothes.

But is it fair to make ‘fashion fun’ and to use these homeless people for entertainment? Just because ‘homeless chic’ is so hot right now? Or should we see it as a compliment?

You tell me! Fashion icon or just wrong to ‘use’ people like that?
