Colour, a memorable moment

Like Benetton and myself, we are fans of colour.  Colour associate the way we live and see, in spectral colour, in black and white or in total darkness.  Colour also affects the way we touch, think, smell, taste and emotion. We can use colour to envision a different future and making a difference.

I would like you to take a moment and watch this delightful short film by Sony Bravia, 170,000 of multicoloured balls being dropped down the steep hills on Filbert and Leavenworth streets in San Francisco.  Slow motion shots of bouncy balls, some rolling down the streets accompany the soothing music of acoustic guitar provided by the Swedish singer José González.  This very much loved tv advert was released in the autumn of 2005, it was a sort of magic that left us touched, a short moment in self reflection and endearment, it was a lovely memorable 2 and a half minutes.

Just imagine, wouldn’t it be great if the tv advert were viewed in 3D?

 Floating Girl

by Be-Blogger U.K. on: February 29th, 2012

After Mechant Bebe (Benetton China) blogged about this craze namely ‘Planking‘ in Taiwan, incredible stills featured a young girl posed like a dead plank (hence the word planking) in awkward places such as on a fishmonger’s chopping table.

I stumbled this incredible blog by accident last summer, ‘Yowayowa Camera‘ aka the Floating Girl.  Pictures of the girl levitate and gravitate in different places in urban Japan, perfect stillness and ghostly beautiful.

How is it possible to levitate in natural-stillness without looking un-naturally forced?  No tricks (like photoshop) were involved, the floating girl uses her own DSLR camera with good lense, a tripod and faster shutter speed. Composition, and the right moment to levitate.

I can never float like hers in the photos but I can jump like a kangaroo.

P.s It’s the 29th February and it’s Leap year, Happy Leap Year! Jump, Skip, Levitate, Float and Leap…..get it?

 Festive Gifts

by Be-Blogger U.K. on: November 25th, 2011

Notebook £4.90, Gold headphones £9.90, iPad case £9.90

Christmas Day is only less than 4 weeks away, have you planned your party outfit for the festive party? And gifts for friends and family? I certainly haven’t planned my rainbow and glitzy outfit yet, and am in a panic mode pondering what to buy for my friends and family. Last minute gift buying is common in the UK, Benetton have a great selection of gift ideas –  a cute trompe l’oeil t-shirt, trendy coloured headphones, bright and colourful knitted iPad cases and notebooks. I want THAT yellow knitted iPad as a clutch.

It’s party time!

 Ebay Fashion Outlet Event

by Be-Blogger U.K. on: November 4th, 2011

Last night I attended an ebay Fashion Outlet bloggers event held at W Hotel, humbled by the contemporary appearance of the newly built hotel in a touristy area of Leicester Square.  This season, releases the Winter Wardrobe collection styled by eBay’s Global Creative Director Andrea Linnet, styled and modelled by my lovely blog friends, Jennifer Inglis from The Style Crusader and Sandra Hagelstam from 5inchandup.

The outlet has brought together more than 100 fashion retailers, all of which sell large of volumes of stock through eBay with up to 70% off from the original price.

Fashion bloggers of new and familiar faces took part in a styling competition to create an outfit from selection of items, I must say the competition was fierce, the winning prize was a toy that all bloggers must have for blogging purpose, a Canon 1100D DSLR camera.

Congratulations to my (another) blog friend Alexxsia from My Labyrinth blog for winning!

 Benetton iPhone app

by Be-Blogger U.K. on: October 13th, 2011

The world is still in mourning after the death of Apple creator, Steve Jobs.  But hey, this doesn’t stop us in admiring and paying attention to Apple’s greatest innovation and new generations of technology.

Benetton has introduced their brightly coloured application for iphone users (sadly I don’t own one), a very easy to use to app where you are able browse their latest collection, watch videos, read their latest news updates, listen to radio and search for the nearest store near you.  Most importantly, the app is FREE.

The world says thank you to Steve Jobs

by Be-Blogger U.K. on: October 7th, 2011

The news broke of former CEO Steve Jobs’s passing via social network Twitter and Facebook was immense, the creator behind Apple lost his battle to Pancreatic cancer, died age 56. He introduced the iMac computer, the iPod, the iPhone and the iPad to the world, and iPhone 4S model has already unveiled to the public just a day after his death.

Apple itself said Steve Jobs had been ‘the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives’ and made the world ‘immeasurably better’ – BBC News.

As an Apple customer typing this post from my Macbook Pro and listening to songs on iTunes, I and we would like say our thanks for giving us the technology of hope, your words on philosophy changes the way we live and ways of thinking.  Thank you Apple, thank you Steve Jobs. Rest in peace. iSad.

 Benetton Knitted Clutch

by Be-Blogger U.K. on: September 29th, 2011

I would like to say a massive thanks to Benetton for sending me this lovely bright orange knitted clutch, received just in time before the commence of London Fashion Week, it was a perfect accessory to accommodate my loaned tablet and storing invitations.  I think this will make a good travel pillow for my up and coming trip to Asia.

Thanks Jen of The Style Crusader for the photos.

 Benetton Style: Coming Autumn

by Be-Blogger U.K. on: August 17th, 2011

Being the only fashionista in the suburban village town of Southgate in North London (fact), I personally find it challenging to dress in a moderately-conservative way when leaving my house to commute to central London, without offending my non-fashionable community let alone my last acidic outfit where I had to walk with my head down and avoid eye contact.

This is the closest moderately-styled for the Summer season finale. Both green frilly top and black casual trousers are from Benetton (SS11), I’ve added a pop of purple colour silk scarf for the hair braid, pony skin brogues and borrowed vintage camera.  Thanks to Style Crusader for helping out with the outfit photos.

Autumn styling is NEXT!

Photos via Photojojo.

As a photography enthusiast with aims to take my skills to the next level, learning new tips and tricks from friends, on youtube, discussion forums and of course on blogs.  Night photography is especially challenging for me, fiddling with desired and accurate settings are always painstakingly challenging as an amateur.  Not exactly an idealistic skill for me.

Recently I stumbled upon a website, Photojojo a photography online store selling quirky photo gifts and gears for (all levels) photographers.  One of their products have caught my attention, the Bokeh Kit!  Bokeh (blurred in Japanese) is that beautiful out of focus that appears when your lens is set to a shallow depth of field (i.e 50mm lense with f/1.4).  The Bokeh Kit provides a disc of any shape slip over the lens, it turns those out of focus lights into interesting given sparkling shape.

Photos via Photojojo.

I have prepared mine using an old card ripped from an old look book, cut out a lens size disc and a tiny a shape of a butterfly in the middle what looked like a bow or a moth.  See result tomorrow.  Satisfied.
