Last night I have experienced my first public fashion social gathering as an attendee at ‘Vogue’s Fashion Night Out‘, but wait, where was I at VFNO London last September 2010? In fact, I was there and part of the participants, I was called to assist an established stylist (whom I had worked for for 5 years) to style models for an in-store catwalk show at a major retailer. Three shows running in one evening was tough and not knowingly what was going on outside the store I was very displeased and felt left out.
Last night, I was meant to co-host VFNO in the major shopping areas of Covent Garden which I kindly declined their invitation, with my determination that I wanted to experience having a great time like others – drink champagne and bite on nibbles, watch bands playing, play dress up, meet blog friends and the like. So, my plan was to do a relay style visits to each stores, spend a minimum (target) of 15 minutes and make haste to another. Three hours and constantly on the move, weaving through crowds of fashionistas in busy side streets and my usual short cuts, I managed to achieve 4. 4 stores in three hours is beyond embarrassing in hope that I would achieve at least 16. The queues were unexpected due to high volume of RSVPs and VIPs, oh well I would love Benetton to be part of VFNO next year, fingers crossed.
