Benetton Style: Coming Autumn

by Be-Blogger U.K. on: August 17th, 2011

Being the only fashionista in the suburban village town of Southgate in North London (fact), I personally find it challenging to dress in a moderately-conservative way when leaving my house to commute to central London, without offending my non-fashionable community let alone my last acidic outfit where I had to walk with my head down and avoid eye contact.

This is the closest moderately-styled for the Summer season finale. Both green frilly top and black casual trousers are from Benetton (SS11), I’ve added a pop of purple colour silk scarf for the hair braid, pony skin brogues and borrowed vintage camera.  Thanks to Style Crusader for helping out with the outfit photos.

Autumn styling is NEXT!

 Floaty graduation

by Be-Blogger U.K. on: July 13th, 2011

Yesterday I attended my younger brother’s graduation ceremony at Royal Holloway University in Surrey (not the Holloway Prison in London as most people assume so), I wore a pretty print georgette dress bought from Benetton the other day.  Paired with black suede heels and a velvety-fur trimmed clutch, the style looks basic and yet chic.

I love the Victorian-gothic architecture of the university building, it has a touch of Harry Potter-esque.  I hear Basic Instinct 2 was filmed there and other mentions in the best selling book The Da Vinci Code.

Some interesting colour palette on ceremony robes.

The after-ceremony is all about having fun and celebration with close friends and family.  Hat throwing is a favourite tradition with students, the end of c’est la vie hardship, now they are leading a new life as a graduate in a quest to find a dream career.

Are you graduating or attending a graduation ceremony this Summer?  If so, what will you be wearing?

The print georgette dress (style 4M5ASV1V4) retails for £49.90 and is available in selected United Color of Benetton stores.

 The hippy meets great gatsby

by Be-Blogger U.K. on: July 8th, 2011

Having already seen a couple of blog posts of the spring summer capsule collection on Spain and Italy‘s blogs, pondering when my turn will come. Luckily, a couple days ago my giant camera and I have managed to catch a sneak preview at Benetton’s flagship store on Oxford Street. The collection are already in selected United Colors of Benetton stores around the world.

The hippy meets Great Gatsby‘ is the theme for the final season of summer. Introducing relaxed styles of key pieces; oversized blouses, mini dresses, print tees, georgette dresses and skirts, impressive and surprisingly-feels-real (mock) leather trousers, feminine frills and oblique cutting for elegant occasional pieces.  The colours are dusty, warm, pale hues and subtle.  Various shades of blues and pinks hint at the autumn palette.

Pretty little collection. I can spot an ideal dress to wear to my brother’s university graduation ceremony next week.

Of course, press event at Benetton always provide little hospitality treats for journalists and bloggers for their busy schedules.

 Feast of London

by Be-Blogger U.K. on: June 22nd, 2011

Last week London celebrated the annual Taste of London for four days of summer eating, drinking and entertainment in Regent’s Park, the adult entry ticket for the event didn’t quite match with my taste bud.  The weather has experience some hormonal changes which wrecked my lovely plans for the week, so to make up for the lost schedule I headed for Marylebone Summer Fayre where I normally visit with friends every Summer which (always) guarantees A plus weather and hey it’s FREE entry.  The fayre supports Teenage Cancer Trust, it has been raising awareness for the six years.

There were food and beverage, entertainment, charity, vintage clothing stalls and many more designated to individual colour-themed zones.  I confess the aromatic lured me to the neighbouring stalls and gotten hypnotised by their glossy and sizzling food, hence the enticing food images on here.

Tongue drooling.

 Style Challenge

by Be-Blogger U.K. on: May 28th, 2011

I’m setting up a style challenge throughout June to use one of  key pieces (pictured) from the Benetton and Sisley‘s Spring Summer collection, and to pair it with my own clothing in street style shots.  I really hope the Jekyll & Hyde weather in June will be kind to me as at the moment it is absolutely freezing.

 Abundance of Florals

by Be-Blogger U.K. on: May 6th, 2011

Florals might not be to everyone’s taste but floral print is big this season I mean big, there’s no escape from it I tell you, mark my words you’ll love it.

This Benetton’s Spring Summer 2011 flower power ad campaign shot by Josh Olins, became an instant inspiration for my wardrobe and my mix and match floral print styling project which I had done for my personal blog not so long ago, I was lucky enough to borrow a rail full of press samples at my local PR to play dress up for my experimentation.

I experimented the looks by mixing various items together – blouse, tops, skirts, dress, even turning a bag as form of a hat and shirt twisted into a headpiece. The result? I went slightly overboard with the styling and it shows that mixing patterns can be fun as long as you know how to balance it in the right way. Would you wear it like this? I would.

You don’t have to go that far with the styling if it isn’t your cup of tea, you could simply wear a basic white t-shirt paired with a printed shirt buttons open and printed skirt whatever pleases you.

Go on… visit your nearest Benetton store and grab an armful of prints to play dress up in the changing room.
