Benetton Style: Red Chunky Knit

by Be-Blogger U.K. on: September 15th, 2011

The aftermath of Hurricane Katia became a leftover swash of gale which hit the UK over the weekend, fortunately it didn’t hit as bad in London than in the north of England.  Not as frigidly cold as I had expected to be in September but it has been generally quite warm surprisingly (thumbs up), a knitted sweater is always handy if I plan to stick around town later in the much chillier evening.  Thankfully this lovely bright red chunky knitted sweater from Benetton (Photos shot by The Style Crusader) has kept me warm the other night, so snugly in fact it’s enough to stop traffic.  Keep warm Benetton friends!

Exclusive Benetton event today: Lana Sutra

by Be-Blogger U.K. on: September 6th, 2011

Textured threads intertwined each other to form a structured-meaningful art form ‘the emotion of colour, the cosiness of wool, a warming embrace, a uniting passion’.  Introducing ‘Lana Sutra‘ – a series of 15 installations created by Cuban artist and Fabrica resident, Erik Ravelo.  The installations celebrate love and the desire for equality and sharing – United Colors of Benetton weaves together the threads of innovation, of art, of its story as a leading knitwear manufacturer and of its future.

Today (6th Sept), Benetton is presenting the full series to the international media and fashion community in the respective cities; Istanbul, Milan and Munich.  Worldwide audience are not to worry, the installations will be shown live through the Benetton Live Windows digital showcase in internet and via live streaming.

Each installation is made of plaster sculptures of a man and a woman covered in coloured woollen threads.  The contact between their bodies, where the colours mingle and the thread merge, symbolises the natural love that cancels difference and binds humanity as one.

 Benetton Style: Trans-season

by Be-Blogger U.K. on: August 25th, 2011

Definitely feeling the combination of heat and chill, lumpy goose-bumps comes out to give a shout out ‘yeah I really needed a jacket right now’.  Autumn is my favourite trans-season from late Summer, simply because it is when I feel at most ‘comfortable’ without being fussy in choosing what to wear.

Talking about ‘trans-season’ fashion, I’m wearing my favourite Sisley SS11 crochet batwing sweater, paired with Benetton AW11 grey herringbone pleat front shorts (available in the store), and incorporate with my own polka-dot sheer blouse tied on waist, vintage bowler hat, animal print sheer socks and black pony skin brogues.  I am liking this whole combination of masculine, simple layering and pop of red colour. It’s very different to my usual complex addiction with floral combo.

 Benetton Style: Coming Autumn

by Be-Blogger U.K. on: August 17th, 2011

Being the only fashionista in the suburban village town of Southgate in North London (fact), I personally find it challenging to dress in a moderately-conservative way when leaving my house to commute to central London, without offending my non-fashionable community let alone my last acidic outfit where I had to walk with my head down and avoid eye contact.

This is the closest moderately-styled for the Summer season finale. Both green frilly top and black casual trousers are from Benetton (SS11), I’ve added a pop of purple colour silk scarf for the hair braid, pony skin brogues and borrowed vintage camera.  Thanks to Style Crusader for helping out with the outfit photos.

Autumn styling is NEXT!

Benetton style: a pop of yellow and pink

by Be-Blogger U.K. on: July 20th, 2011

Never in the world I would be brave enough to wear a super bright fluorescent yellow trousers in London town especially in this horrid weather, nonetheless the outfit managed to brighten the depressive day.  With the Benetton trousers I balanced the yellow with a loose fit white t-shirt, multicolour necklace, pink and grey stripey cardigan, pink checks and beige converse and bright pink Benetton scarf which has a cute lip print on it.

This style has a sense of casualness, urban and hip-hop.  Ideally I would define this look as Swagger with a touch of cuteness, but what’s missing?  The look can never go without key Swagger accessories like; dice key chains, retro Casio watch, huge headphones and baseball cap.  Never mind the cluttered accessories, simpleness is the key.

Thanks to Jen of The Style Crusader for the outfit photos.

Added note: A few days after the shots posted both Benetton and Style Slicker blogs, the shot is featured on New York mag‘s this week street style.

by Be-Blogger U.K. on: July 18th, 2011

United Kingdom is under going hormonal changes in weather (common in the summer season) with a mixture of hot flush, tantrum, tears and feverish flu.  Sounds familiar?  Welcome to the club.  Soon, cold breeze will settle in as autumn approaches closely in a few months time, as time goes we would retrieve our old friend from the back of a wardrobe, woolly scarf or thick knitted woolly jumper snuggle gently to your skin, they are like security blanket providing protection and body warmth for the next 6 months, they disappoint.  Today, I have started knitting…a skinny scarf, in preparation for the cold blast.

We have an exciting news, a competition launching soon on the Benetton blog for Benetton lovers and readers, yes I’m pointing a finger at you.  A ‘Knit your world’ category will be added to Benetton blog, this category we will be talking about wool and color on the web and social network… Follow it, a great surprise is coming!

3.  On Foursquare the cities where fans are will be shown and a special will be created in 3 surprise locations.

 La belleeza es tu cabeza

by Be-Blogger U.K. on: July 15th, 2011

I got this lovely Benetton cotton bag given at a recent press day last week, the bag has the ‘La Belleeza Es Tu Cabeza’ (You got a beautiful mind in Spanish) in psychedellic-typo style print in the shape of a female head, designed by Elliot Burford another resident at Fabrica.  The summer bag fits enough content for daily use or ideally for functional purpose, use it as sports/gym kit bag, light grocery shopping, extra emergency bag and the like.

 Floaty graduation

by Be-Blogger U.K. on: July 13th, 2011

Yesterday I attended my younger brother’s graduation ceremony at Royal Holloway University in Surrey (not the Holloway Prison in London as most people assume so), I wore a pretty print georgette dress bought from Benetton the other day.  Paired with black suede heels and a velvety-fur trimmed clutch, the style looks basic and yet chic.

I love the Victorian-gothic architecture of the university building, it has a touch of Harry Potter-esque.  I hear Basic Instinct 2 was filmed there and other mentions in the best selling book The Da Vinci Code.

Some interesting colour palette on ceremony robes.

The after-ceremony is all about having fun and celebration with close friends and family.  Hat throwing is a favourite tradition with students, the end of c’est la vie hardship, now they are leading a new life as a graduate in a quest to find a dream career.

Are you graduating or attending a graduation ceremony this Summer?  If so, what will you be wearing?

The print georgette dress (style 4M5ASV1V4) retails for £49.90 and is available in selected United Color of Benetton stores.
